Seat On The Korner:
We select the star of the game and virtually invite him to a Seat on the Korner, just as Ralph Kiner used to do for his studio postgame show on WOR-channel 9 broadcasts in the early decades of the Mets.

Francisco Lindor's 2 home run 4 RBI performance tonight has earned him a seat on the Korner. For the third time this season and second game in a row, Lindor led off the bottom of the first with a home run. And his 7th-inning three-run blast proved to be the difference. Lindor is now batting .476 (10-21) in his lead-off at-bats this season, and leads the majors in extra-base hits as the first batter of the game with three doubles to go along with his three home runs. The Mets shortstop and unofficial captain has now hit four home runs in his last four games after hitting just one in his first eighteen. With his two blasts tonight, Lindor leapfrogged Brandon Nimmo and is now 14th in Mets career home runs with 115, just three behind Ed Kranepool.
Need To Know:
Tonight was the Mets 11th game in a stretch of 13 straight. They are 8-3 in that span.
At 16-7, the Mets are now tied with the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres for the best record in baseball. They a season-high 9 games over .500, and are also 10-1 at Citi Field
The Mets have outscored opponents 24-13 during their current 5-game win streak.
Mets starting pitchers have not allowed a home run over their last 10 games.
Tonight's game was the first Mets game against an NL East opponent aside from the Miami Marlins this season.
With his 7th-inning single, Luisangel Acuna has now hit safely in a career-high 9 straight games, going 12-31 (.387), with nine runs, four doubles, three walks, and one RBI during the streak.
Turning Point
The leadoff home run from Lindor, and a Jesse Winker home run in the following inning put the Mets up 2-0 early. Both teams would continuously threaten and come up empty for the next few innings. Still, it seemed like each time was just one big hit away from really doing some damage. For the Mets, that big hit came in the bottom of the 7th, when the night's offensive hero, Francisco Lindor, launched a 2-out three-run home run to right center to put the Mets ahead 5-0. The clutch 4-bagger gave the Mets a bit of breathing room at the time, and as they found out a couple innings later, they'd need all they could get. A 9th-inning Phillies rally brought them within one run, but Edwin Diaz was able to strike out Trea Turner and Bryce Harper to shut the door.
Three Keys:
Tylor the Creator
Before the season started, Tylor Megill was considered the 6th man in the Mets 5-man rotation. Preseason injuries to Frankie Montas and Sean Manaea gave Megill an oppportunity and he has created a spot for himself on the Mets startig staff. Megill is now 3-2 with a 1.09 ERA. Tonight he gave up just one hit in 5.1 innings. While his control wasn't at its best tonight, as indicated by his 4 walks, he was able to get the big K when he needed it, adding up to 10 strikeouts total. The Mets are now 9-2 in his last 11 starts.

There's a lot to be said for consistency, especially when it leads to a Mets win.
Missed It By That Much
The Mets went up 5-0 on a three-run home run twice tonight. The second time was the aforementioned turning point. The first time was a goner off the bat of Juan Soto. This third inning shot off Nola was a thing of beauty. And according to the replay officials at MLB, it was also foul. It would have been Soto's first Citi Field home run since joining the Mets. Alas, it was not to be.
