Seat on the Korner: Brandon Nimmo
We select the star of the game and virtually invite him to a Seat on the Korner, just as Ralph Kiner used to do for his studio postgame show on WOR-channel 9 broadcasts in the early decades of the Mets.

Brandon Nimmo gets the honor of taking the seat as the post game guest for our AI Ralph Kiner.
Nimmo snapped a 3-3 tie with a huge, two out RBI single in the 7th while he took a home run away from Jordan Walker as the Mets swept a four-game series from the Cardinals with a 7-3 win. The RBI was Nimmo's first in 8 games. His last RBI came eight days ago against the Athletics in Sacramento. Nimmo also robbed a home run from Jordan Walker earlier in the game to snuff out a Cardinal rally.
Need to Know
Mets are 17-23 all time on Easter Sunday.
Mets starters have posted a 1.91 ERA over the last nine games. MLB best 2.42 overall.
Clay Holmes extended the Mets scoreless streak against the Cardinals to 14.2 IP before Alec Burleson's RBI ground out in the 6th.
The Mets improved to 9-1 at home this season. In 2015, the Mets were 10-0 at home to start the season. They were 9-1 to start the home season in 1986. Both those years, they went to the World Series.
Mets last swept the Cardinals in a four-game series from April 24-27 in 1986 at Busch Stadium. It was the Mets first ever sweep of the Cardinals in a four-game series at home.
The announced crowd was 38,347. Through ten home dates, the Mets are averaging over 36,700 fans.
With his leadoff home run, Francisco Lindor is batting .450 (9-20) with three runs, three doubles, two home runs, two RBI, and one walk in the first inning this year. It was Lindor's 22nd career leadoff home run and 3rd career home run vs. Sonny Gray. Lindor's infield single in the 7th was his first as a right handed batter this season.
Pete Alonso's RBI single in the 5th inning gave him 24 RBI for the season. Alonso is 7 for 22 (.318) with RISP this season.
Cardinals starter Sonny Gray was 4-0 in his career vs. the Mets, 2-0 at Citi Field. Gray had a no decision in his fifth career start vs. the Mets.
Turning Point
The Cardinals tied the game in the top of the 7th on a two-run single by Thomas Saggese off Jose Butto. With one out in the bottom of the 7th, Francisco Lindor reached on an infield single off Cardinals lefthander and losing pitcher JoJo Romero for his first hit as a right-handed batter. Juan Soto walked to put runners on first and second. Former Met Phil Maton relieved Romero and struck out Pete Alonso. On a 1-2 pitch, Nimmo drove a ball up the middle to score Lindor with the tie breaking run. Before that hit, Nimmo had been 4 for 30 (.133) with RISP. Nimmo also robbed Jordan Walker of a home run with a leaping catch in left field to end the top of the 6th inning.
Three Keys
Sure-Lock Holmes
Clay Holmes went six innings for the first time in his Mets career. Holmes gave up one run on four hits with two walks and six strikeouts. Holmes threw a season high 91 pitches, 58 for strikes and lowered his ERA to 3.16.
A Good Problem
Luisangel Acuna continues to create a good problem for Manager Carlos Mendoza. Acuna extended his hitting streak to eight straight games with a 4th inning single and an 8th inning infield double. During his hitting streak, Acuna is hitting .393 (11 for 28) with four doubles over that span. Jeff McNeil has homered in his past two rehab games and was 4 for 4 in Sunday's rehab game as he gets even closer to his return. Brett Baty was 0 for 3 but there's been talk of using Acuna in centerfield when McNeil is activated.
Here Comes Soto
Juan Soto had his first three RBI game as a Met. Soto had a sacrifice fly in the 3rd inning to give him at least one RBI in each of his last three games. Soto's two run double in the 8th broke the game open. Soto has driven in five runs in his last three games and is 5 for 10 in that span while raising his average to .256.
