Game 44 of 162
Mets 8 - Rays 7 (Citi Field, New York)
Mets record: 21-23
Mets streak: Win 1
WP - David Robertson (1-0)
LP - Pete Fairbanks (0-1)
Seat on the Korner: Pete Alonso
We select the star of the game and virtually invite him to a Seat on the Korner, just as Ralph Kiner used to do for his studio postgame show on WOR-channel 9 broadcasts in the early decades of the Mets.
Even though it is only May, Pete Alonso's walk off home run may have single handedly revived a flatlining Mets Season. After the baby Mets Veintos and Alvarez homered on two different occasions to tie the game only to see the Rays retake the lead, and with the Rays leading by 2 in the bottom of the tenth, with runners on 1st and 3rd Pete hit his 15th home run of the season, his 4th career walk which gave the Mets a come from behind, never say die type of win that was their trademark last season earning Pete his first seat on the Korner this season.

3 Keys
The Kids are alright !
Mark Vientos and Francisco Alvarez combined for 2 home runs and 5 RBI's. Can Ronnie Mauricio be far behind ?
What the Buck ? No sixth sense for Showalter ???
In a 1-0 game in the 6th Buck opted to lift the lead off hitter switch hitting Eduardo Escobar who has been hitting better against the Rays right hander Kevin Kelly for Jeff McNeil, Jeff was robbed on a great running catch by Jose Siri . After Francisco Lindor singled, Pete Alonso hit into what looked like an inning ending double play, but Brandon Lowe backed up on it and went to first base to get Pete. Even though the right handed Kelly had pitched to the required 3 batters, Buck opted to send up lefty Daniel Vogelbach to pinch hit for Tommy Pham, prompting Rays manager Kevin Cash to bring in lefty Jake Diekman who promptly struck out Vogelbach to end the threat.
Running Rays
Tampa stole 7 bases in seven attempts.
