Seat on the Korner: Christian Yelich
We select the star of the game and virtually invite him to a Seat on the Korner, just as Ralph Kiner used to do for his studio postgame show on WOR-channel 9 broadcasts in the early decades of the Mets.
Christian Yelich earns a Spot in the Korner tonight after going 3-5 with his 1st inning lead off double which led to him crossing the plate thanks to Jessie Winker. Yelich also had two RBI's in the top of the 8th thanks to a two-run single.

Turning Point
The Turning Point of the game was in the top of the 8th after a controversial call by the umpires where Joey Wiemer was hit by a pitch in the hands and was shaken up from it. At first, the umpires said that he swung the bat and called it a strike, but on further review, they overtuned that and called it an HBP. Buck Showalter appeared visibly upset about this from the bench.
From here, this allowed the bases to load and for Christian Yelich to bring in the winning two runs on a single to center. This caused Buck Showalter to leave the bench and to start ranting at 1B umpire Ron Kulpa, ultimately causing an ejection.
Three Keys
Senga (in retro video game voice): Tonight was Kodai Senga's eighth start at Citi Field, and it was certainly a pretty good one. He went 5 innings, giving up two runs and striking out eight batters, two of which were down looking at his nasty forkball.
Senga was humble, however, taking the blame for the teams poor performance after giving up two runs in the top of the first.
No Support: Even though Senga gave it his all on the mound, there was very little support from the Mets offense. The Mets had seven hits tonight, but were unable to bring too many runs home, including blowing a bases loaded opportunity in the bottom of the 4th, with Bret Baty striking out and Mark Cahna then grounding into a double play.
This is not something that we have not seen this season. The Mets' clutch hitting has been awful this year. Both Baty and Cahna have a .234 average with runners in scoring position. They were just not able to bring those runners home, which could have made a huge difference in the game.
Buck's Ejection: Tonight, Buck showed some life, sticking up for his club after a terrible call by the umpires. It was clear in looking at the replays that Joey Weimer swung the bat fully after being hit on the hand with the ball. It is safe to say that call cost the Mets the game.
