Seat on the Korner: Tylor Megill

We select the star of the game and virtually invite him to a Seat on the Korner, just as Ralph Kiner used to do for his studio postgame show on WOR-channel 9 broadcasts in the early decades of the Mets.

Tonight's Seat on the Korner belongs to Tylor Megill, like David Peterson Thursday night saved his best for last. Megill's second Citi Field lifetime start against the Phillies was much like his last one. With his seven and 1/3rd innings he now has pitched 12 innings against the Phillies allowing only 4 hits and 1 run over that span. It was the first time in his career Tylor pitched into the 8th inning.

Turning Point

Tonight's turning point of the game came in the bottom of the first inning as the Mets were aggressive right off the bat. Rafael Ortega filling in for the injured Brandon Nimmo lead off the game with single, he advanced to third on a perfectly executed hit and run single by Ronny Mauricio, and came home to score the first run on Pete Alonso's ground out giving the Mets the early lead which they would not relinquish.

Three Keys

See How They Run..

The Mets with nothing to lose came out running and didn't stop, while they only recored 1 stolen base, Ortega and Mauricio were both on the move as parts of hit and runs in the first inning, and Danny Mendick and Francisco Lindor both moved up a base on passed balls, Lindor's accounting for the third run of the game.

Raley Big Show..

Brooks Raley struck out Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper in the eighth inning, both of them representing the tying run.

ADAM-12

Adam Ottavino who continues to struggle down the stretch, walked a tight rope in the ninth yet held on for the 4-3 win. His final line was 1 inning pitched 2 hits, 1 walk and 2 runs, but he recorded his 12th save of the season.
